You know AI could help. You just don't know where to start.

If any of this sounds familiar, you're not alone, and you're in the right place.

Overwhelmed by the hype

Every tool promises to revolutionise your business. Every LinkedIn post is from a new "AI expert." You don't know where the real value is.

Hours lost to repetitive work

Quotes, emails, reports, data entry, the same questions from customers every week. Your team is doing work a machine could do in seconds.

Burned by tools that didn't deliver

Another SaaS subscription gathering dust. Another consultant with slide decks but no working solution. You want results, not promises.

The space won't sit still

Every month a new model, every quarter a deprecated API. Tools you bought last year already need replacing. Without an owner, your AI investment quietly stops working.

What we do

Two ways to work with us. One starting point.

Every engagement starts the same way: we map your business, your operations, data, privacy constraints, and team structure, then identify where AI delivers real, durable value. From there, you choose how deep you want to go.

Step 1 · Start here

AI Readiness Audit

From £499 scoped to your business

Low-commitment way to find out where AI actually helps you, what foundational work needs doing first, and whether you need a one-shot fix or an ongoing partner.

  • 90-minute discovery session, plus async follow-up with stakeholders by email or shared docs
  • Operational map of workflows, data, and team structure
  • Readiness check across IT infrastructure, data hygiene, governance, security, and policy
  • Top 3–5 AI opportunities, ranked by cost and impact, with foundational work flagged where needed
  • Recommendation on which track fits, no obligation
  • Honest cheapest-path advice, sometimes a configured SaaS, not a custom build

Step 2 · Pick your track

One-shot fix, or embedded partner. Both valid.

Track A · One-off engagement

Pick what you need. Walk away when it's done.

Self-contained projects with a clear start and end. A focused build, a bespoke project, or training to upskill your team. Fixed scope agreed before work begins, no retainer, no ongoing commitment.

Quick Win delivery

from £1,199

One focused outcome, delivered in 3–4 weeks.

  • Email assistant, proposal drafter, FAQ deflection, document extractor, your call
  • Configured, integrated, or custom-built, whichever delivers the outcome cheapest
  • Fixed scope, fixed price, working solution at handover
  • You own and maintain it after handover, no ongoing dependency on us
Bespoke project

scoped per project

Larger one-off AI or software builds, scope and fixed price agreed before work begins.

  • RAG system over your internal documents, SOPs, or contracts
  • Custom AI agent for a specific workflow, ticket triage, lead qualification, document review
  • Voice and transcription pipeline, meetings to structured notes to CRM
  • Computer vision for inspection, document extraction, or asset classification
  • LLM-powered analytics or dashboards over your operational data
AI Fluency Training

from £499

Up to 3 × 1-hour live sessions, tailored to your team's role and starting level. Also bundled inside the Retainer.

  • Vocabulary & landscape: what models, agents, context windows, RAG actually are, and what current AI can and can't do
  • Prompt & context engineering: practical techniques to get useful output, common failure modes, when to give more context vs less
  • Safe & responsible use: data privacy, spotting hallucinations, when to trust output, when to escalate, fit with your governance
Recommended for durable results
Track B · AI Partner Retainer

We own the AI outcome.

For businesses that want AI to be a durable, evolving capability. New skills, integrations, and automations, delivered, adapted, and kept working as the landscape shifts.

AI Partner Retainer

from £750/month

Outcome-owned. Delivered work, not just calls.

  • We own the outcomes we agreed. Within scope, your AI results are our responsibility, not your problem to chase.
  • New skills, integrations, and automations delivered as scope and capacity allow each month
  • We adapt your AI stack as models and platforms evolve, within the agreed scope
  • Success criteria agreed upfront for each deliverable (time saved, deflection rate, accuracy, whatever fits). We measure, tune what drifts, and report what shifted in your monthly working session and summary.
  • Independent advice across your whole digital stack, no referral fees
  • Priority response when something breaks. 3-month minimum, then rolling monthly with 1 month notice.
AI Readiness Build

scoped per project

The foundational work that makes AI actually useful and safe in your business. Often more data, governance, and IT than AI itself. Scoped from your audit, delivered standalone or inside the Retainer.

  • Data structure organised so AI agents can find and use your data
  • Agent context embedded where the work happens
  • Security, access controls, and audit trails so AI sees what it should and nothing else
  • Compliance and policy alignment (GDPR, sector regs, internal acceptable-use)
  • Model hosting decisions (public, private, or self-hosted) matched to your data sensitivity
  • Delivered alongside your IT, governance, and policy people, not around them

Honest guidance

Not sure which track fits? The audit tells you. We'll say plainly whether a one-shot fix solves it, or whether the value compounds with a partnership. We've talked clients out of retainers before.

Pricing shown is indicative starting point. Final scope and price are agreed in writing before any work begins.

A typical client journey

Audit first. Then either a clean one-shot fix, or an ongoing partnership.

Step 1 · Week 1–2

AI Readiness Audit

Operations, data, governance, and AI opportunities mapped. From £499, scoped to your business.

Step 2 · Week 3+

Quick Win or Retainer

One-shot build, or embedded partnership. Audit recommends.

Step 3 · Month 2+

Walk away, or scale up

One-shot done, or partnership running. Whatever fits.

You're never locked in. Stop after the audit, take the Quick Win and walk, or stay on as a partner. Both tracks valid.

The bigger picture

What "AI-ready" actually means.

Most AI consultants sell what's visible, automations, assistants, integrations. That's the top layer. The bottom layer is what decides whether any of it lasts.

Layer 2 · What you see

Workflows

The visible AI work, what your team actually uses day to day.

  • Email assistants, proposal drafters, FAQ deflection, document extractors
  • Dashboards, reporting, business tools
  • The day-to-day automations and integrations
The bit most consultants skip

Layer 1 · What makes it last

Foundations

The unglamorous groundwork that turns AI from a novelty into a durable business capability.

  • Your business knowledge organised so AI can find and reason over it
  • Clear instructions that capture how your business operates, your rules, your tone, your policies
  • Safe access pathways across your tools and information, with the right boundaries
  • The right AI model picked for each task, swappable as the landscape shifts
  • Governance so you know what AI can do, can't do, and who's accountable

Workflows without foundations are how AI projects quietly die six months later.
We deliver both.

The foundations are yours

Even if you walk away after the audit or after a Quick Win, the structure, knowledge, and instructions we set up stay with your business. The goal is for you to become AI-ready as a permanent capability, not a vendor dependency.

Where AI delivers

The business areas where AI integration pays back fastest.

AI is most useful where the work is document-heavy, repeatable, and rule-bound. These are the functions where integration tends to deliver the fastest, most durable results across business operations.

Marketing & content

AEO/GEO optimisation for AI search visibility, content drafting from briefs, campaign personalisation at scale.

Briefs that took half a day reach first draft in 30 minutes, brand voice intact.

Sales & CRM

Lead qualification and scoring, proposal drafting from brief, follow-up cadences that don't read like spam.

Proposal drafts ready before the next call, not after the next week.

Customer support

First-line triage and FAQ deflection, sentiment monitoring, internal knowledge search across your tools.

Routine tickets resolved before a human opens the queue, with clean escalation when judgement is needed.

Finance & ops

Invoice extraction, receipt categorisation, anomaly detection on spend, automated supplier and expense reconciliation.

End-of-month reconciliation stops eating Fridays.

Legal & compliance

Contract review and summarisation, policy Q&A, document redaction, regulatory deadline tracking.

Document review in hours, not days. Sign-off stays with the human.

HR & people

CV screening with bias mitigation, onboarding workflows, internal handbook Q&A so staff self-serve.

An internal handbook that answers its own questions.

Don't see your function? The audit covers it. Most useful AI work is finding the boring, expensive thing nobody's noticed yet.

How it works

Four simple steps from "we should look at AI" to a working solution your team uses every day.

1

Intro call free, 30 min

We chat, we understand your business, we decide if there's a fit. No pitch. No obligation.

2

AI Readiness Audit

We map your operations, data, IT, and governance. Prioritised AI opportunities with cost, ROI, foundational work flagged, and a clear track recommendation.

3

Deliver first cut

Scoped, fixed-price delivery, could be a configured tool, a SaaS setup, an integration, or a custom build.

4

Iterate & hand over

We tune together until the output is right for your business. Then your team gets trained and we stay available for the next iteration.

Good AI gets better with your input.

Most deliverables go through 1–3 refinement rounds before they're tuned to how your business actually works, more for anything voice- or judgement-heavy.

We scope iteration time into the price, but the loop only closes with you in it. A proposal drafter can't sound like your firm without you reading drafts and telling us what's missing. The clients who treat the feedback loop as part of the job get the strongest results.

What clients say

Real projects. Real AI integration.

We've integrated AI both into client workflows and across our own delivery process. Two clients on what that looks like in practice.

AI inside the workflow

Why Bytes Reality

A working solution beats a slide deck.

Most "AI consultants" can talk about AI. Far fewer can ship a working system that integrates with your tools and actually saves your team time.

We do both. That's the whole offer.

Who you'll work with

UK-based software engineer with 20+ years across transport, mobility, location intelligence, and bespoke web platforms. Engagements are run personally by Colin, with trusted specialists brought in when scope or domain calls for it.

Small client roster by design, we take on the work we can genuinely own.

We own the outcomes we agreed

Under a partnership, the outcomes we agreed are our responsibility, not your problem to chase. If a model deprecation breaks something in scope, we fix it. If your stack needs rethinking, we advise on the change. Scope and capacity are set monthly, what we deliver flexes with what's needed. That's what makes the promise honest.

Engineering depth, not prompt tricks

Two decades shipping production systems across transport, mobility, and bespoke web. We design AI integrations to the same engineering standard, monitored, version-controlled, recoverable.

We use these tools every day

Gemini, Claude, GPT, custom agents, automation platforms. Practice, not theory. The recommendations come from real delivery work.

We tell you when you don't need us

Sometimes the answer is a £20/month SaaS, not a custom build. We'll say so. The audit is honest, even when it costs us a project.

The worries we hear most

Concerns we resolve early.

Most businesses come to us with the same worries. Here's where we land on each, the detail gets worked through during the audit.

"AI-written content sounds generic."

It does, when it's pointed at a blank page. We ground the AI in your voice, your existing materials, and the way you actually write. The output starts looking like you, not like every other LinkedIn post.

"My IP and client data shouldn't train someone's model."

Agreed. The default is enterprise providers with zero-retention and no-training commitments, with what AI sees scoped tightly. For tighter control, we can move workloads to private or self-hosted models, running on your own infrastructure or your own cloud tenant, so data never leaves your environment. The right level of control is agreed during the audit, per workload.

"Where is my data actually processed?"

Providers and regions picked deliberately, EU or UK-hosted where it matters, with no hidden routing. For workloads that demand the most granular control, private or self-hosted models keep inference entirely on your infrastructure. You'll know which model sits behind each workflow and where it runs.

"What if the AI gets it wrong?"

Human-in-the-loop on anything that touches money, contracts, or customers. Validation on outputs. Clear handling for "I don't know." We won't put AI somewhere it shouldn't be.

Have a concern not listed here? Bring it to the intro call. We've heard most of them and have honest answers either way.

Common questions

The objections we hear most often. Honest answers below.

Why a retainer? Can't I just buy one fix?

Yes. The Quick Win track exists for exactly that, one focused pain point, one fixed-price build, done. The retainer is for businesses that want us to own their AI outcome, new automations as priorities emerge, adaptations as the tech changes, and the strategy behind it all, without hiring an in-house AI team. The audit tells you which track fits. Both are valid.

What does the retainer actually deliver each month?

It varies by month and by what your business needs. Some months are deliverable-heavy, a new automation, a tuned skill, an integration. Others are advisory-heavy, a new model dropped, your stack needs rethinking, your team has questions. All months include working sessions, emails, and a written summary at month-end so you see exactly what your retainer covered. Deliverables vary, accountability doesn't.

What happens when a model update breaks my automation?

Under the partnership, that's our problem to fix, included. Under the one-shot track, you can either learn to maintain it yourself, hire someone, or come back to us on a project basis. We're upfront during the audit about which workloads tend to need ongoing care and which are genuinely fire-and-forget.

Do you advise on tools beyond AI?

Under a retainer, yes, it's bundled in. We're a full digital consultancy across transport, mobility, location data, bespoke web, and AI, so we can give independent advice on most of your digital estate. If a vendor pitches you something new, ask us. We don't take referral fees. But the retainer's primary job is delivery, not advice.

What if I don't know what I want?

That's literally what the audit is for. Most of our clients start here. You don't need a brief, you need someone who can look at your business and tell you where AI helps and where it won't.

How is this different from hiring a freelancer on Fiverr?

You get a strategist and a builder, not a tool configurator. Most freelance "AI" work is wiring up off-the-shelf templates. We diagnose the actual problem, design the right solution (which is sometimes a no-code tool, off the shelf tool or a custom build), and stand behind it.

Do I need to be technical?

No. We handle the tech. You focus on your business. The whole point of working with us is that you don't need to learn what RAG, MCP, or agentic workflows are, you just need to know what your team spends too much time on.

How much of my time will this take?

Less than hiring someone, more than buying SaaS. You'll need to sit in the discovery session, respond to follow-up questions, and review drafts across the iteration rounds. Plan for 2–5 hours total per deliverable, spread over 2–4 weeks. AI solutions are iterative, we can't tune them into the right shape without your feedback. Clients who treat the loop as part of their job get the best results.

How quickly can we start?

Intro call usually within the same week. Audit can run within 1–2 weeks of that. Build work depends on scope, but Quick Wins are typically delivered in 3–4 weeks once we agree on the spec, plus a short iteration window to tune the output.

Not sure where to start?

The intro call is free and there's no pitch. 30 minutes, we figure out if AI can help your business, and you leave with something useful either way.
